Our Worship
At Standing Springs we practice a "blended" style of worship. By that we mean that we use both traditional hymns and contemporary choruses in our worship service. Our choir and soloists sing music from a variety of traditions such as traditional anthems, contemporary styles, and southern gospel. During congregational singing a multimedia system displays the words of the song on a screen over the pulpit so worshippers can either use their hymn book or look at the screen to see the words. Our pastor places a sermon outline in the bulletin each week and the outline is displayed on the screen as he preaches allowing those present to better follow the preaching.
Our Beliefs
We are a theologically conservative Southern Baptist Congregation that was established in October 1818. Listed below are some of our significant theological beliefs.
We believe the Bible to be God's revelation to man. It was divinely inspired and is totally accurate and trustworthy. We believe the Bible to be God's true and authorative word on all matters of faith and practice. We believe the Bible to be relevant and practical to life today.
We believe there is one God and that God has revealed himself to man in three distinct yet undivided persons we call the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that God created the universe without the use of pre-existing materials. Therefore, God is the creator of all humanity, and all humanity is ultimately accountable to God.
We believe that all persons are sinful by nature and in need of salvation. There is nothing that we can do to merit or earn our salvation.
We believe that God sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ, into the world to die for the sins of humanity. Furthermore, we believe Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a perfect and sinless life, and died on the cross for the atonement of our sins. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. Now Jesus sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us to God the Father.
We believe that salvation comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That relationship comes by acknowledging our own sinfullness, turning from our sins, and trusting Christ in faith.
We believe in a literal heaven and hell.
We believe in the literal and visible return of Christ.
